Edited by: Kethas Protagonist on 10/04/2011 08:07:58 I apologize for drudging up an old issue, but I'm experiencing the same "looping" problem posted about back in early 2010:
http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1263311&page=1#12
When I click "Retrieve data from EVE API," the status text at the bottom of the application reports "Processed personal wallet transaction #XXX for wallet 1000", progressing from 1 to 1000. When it reaches 1000 it pauses for a couple seconds and then starts again at 1.
While this is going on, the EWA application is unresponsive (the window doesn't respond to keypresses or mouse clicks and and cursor switches to a swirling "thinking" icon).
This is after a fresh install and running EWA as Adminstrator on Windows 7. You did reply to the original post on this issue, suspecting it was some sort of caching problem and asking if the poster was using a proxy (I'm not).
I also apologize for posting a bug report right as we're in between EVE forum versions - I'll repost on the new ones if CCP gets them working and we switch.
Edit: link linkified

Thanks for the reply. I'll sit tight for the moment (clutching myself tightly and crying to sleep in the absence of a working wallet program, of course), update on Monday, and post here re: how it goes.

Edited by: Kethas Protagonist on 11/05/2011 11:44:55 Mrgh. Okay, I've tried to set up EWA again in preparation for reporting on a bond that's starting up, and I'm having similar problems as before:
1) The EWA client hangs when I click "Retrieve data from EVE API". As with VV, the client doesn't actually freeze, it just becomes unresponsive and loops "Processed personal wallet transaction #<1 through 2560> for wallet 1000" repeatedly.
2) Unlike before, when I force-quit EWA and restart the client, the most recent data that EWA should have just downloaded (repeatedly, apparently) is not reflected in EWA's data. I'm currently unable to view anything prior to edit: later than May 1st.
3) Having the .manifest file in the EWA installation directory doesn't prevent the UAC prompt.
4) If I run the EWA client in neither compatibility mode nor as an administrator, I get an "Error accessing database at C:\ProgramData\EVEWalletAware\DATA\. Application will now terminate" error. Running it either in WinXP SP3 compatibility mode or as an administrator results in a UAC prompt but lets the program start correctly.
5) The EWA autodownloader app exhibits similar looping behavior - it repeatedly processes transactions #1 through 2560. I'm not sure if this is actual erroneous redownloading of the same wallet transaction history, or just poorly-worded reporting of correct downloading of personal wallet transaction history THEN personal wallet journal history THEN corp wallet transaction history THEN etc. etc.
This is after updating to 2.0.23. I've verified that the .ini file at C:\ProgramData\EVEWalletAware has the correct path for EWA's .mdb file, specifically:
Quote: [Database] Connection=Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\ProgramData\EVEWalletAware\DATA\EVEWalletAware.mdb;User Id=<snip>;Password=<snip>; Version=19 DatabasePath=C:\ProgramData\EVEWalletAware\DATA\
I'd like to troubleshoot this, and I suspect the first step is uninstalling 2.0.23 (and any possible remnants of 2.0.22) and making sure I have a clean install. EWA seems to (need to) put files in a lot of scattered directories - could you point out the places I need to clean up?
Thanks.

You're absolutely right. After letting EWA sit for longer it becomes responsive again and, as far as I can tell, has successfully downloaded wallet API information.
I apologize for taking up your time with a non-issue.

This isn't entirely on-topic, but you might not know that you can disable Captain's Quarters and just be presented with a static background image when docked. It's in your options under Display & Graphics -> Graphic Content Settings (the right column) -> Load Station Environment (the last checkbox of the four).
It's my understanding that, as currently planned, CQ will not be optional/toggleable in this fashion, but that's another discussion. For now, you can disable it.
More on topic: just to be clear, the reason EWA isn't currently downloading market information is because of Incarna's API change that you mention in this post, and the next EWA version, which you're waiting to release until CCP releases their DB dump, will fix it, correct? I totally understand the rationale behind waiting, I just want to be sure I understand why EWA isn't currently working for me.

Unfortunately I'm still unable to retrieve data more recent than June 18th.
I downloaded the new .exe and replaced the old .exe with it. I didn't update anything else.
? -> About says that my EWA version is 2.0.25 and my DB version is 21.
When I select an account and character and click "Retrieve data from EVE API", it cycles from "Processing wallet transaction #<1 through 2650> on wallet 1000" or something similar, pauses, cycles #2651 through 5120, pauses, cycles 5121 through 7900-something, and then finishes.
However, when I then open my Wallet Transactions or Wallet Journal pages, I'm not shown any transactions more recent than June 18th, the last date I had transaction information for prior to the Incarna patch and subsequent EWA-breakage. Additionally, opening up the Application Log shows a stream of pairs of INSERT INTO (commands? errors?) and Microsoft JET Database Engine overflow errors:
Link 1 Link 2
Finally, EWA does appear to be successfully modifying the .mdb file where my wallet information is stored (namely, C:\ProgramData\EVEWalletAware\DATA\EVEWalletAware.mdb), based on the Last Modified timestamp in Windows Explorer.
If you need more information to troubleshoot or if I can help in any way, please let me know. Your services in providing and updating EWA are greatly appreciated - CCP should be offering to pay you, not requiring the opposite.
(Obviously I'm making so much money that a mere 64-bit OS can't handle it.)

Sigh. Duh.
? -> "Check for update" even handles downloading the new DB for you. I assumed it only handled .exe updates. Well, I feel sheepish.
Thanks, it's working perfectly now.

It'll be a shame to see a cornerstone of the "what the hell is my wallet doing" app niche retire, but I can understand and respect your decision. Thank you for the time and energy that's gone into EWA versions past and present.
I'm usually fond of verbose posts, but:

seems like it pretty much covers it.
